PRIVACY Policy

This policy applies to the following entities:

Continuity Publishing, Inc.
Retailing Insight magazine
formerly New Age Retailer magazine

Continuity Publishing respects your right to the privacy of personal information you provide us. The following policy is intended to explain how your personal information will be treated.

We have different types of sites and publications. RetailingInsight.com is a business-to-business website directly associated with Retailing Insight magazine, a print publication.

An important purpose and value of our business-to-business publications is providing contact information for people and businesses that want to find each other. On the other hand, we have no intention of disclosing information users may consider private.

GENERAL

We never provide email addresses of individuals or of stores to anyone, except in a context clearly indicated in advance as being open to inspection or intended for publication, and at the choice of the company or individual.

In the case of vendors (such as wholesalers, distributors, manufacturers, publishers, and the like), we act as an agent in providing contact information through listings or ads clearly meant for publication, which at the vendor's option may include email addresses. These may be open to inspection by the public, though we make no effort to solicit the public's attention.

We may ask you for personal and/or business information such as your name and email address. For example, we request personal and business information when you subscribe to Retailing Insight. We need to collect this information for fulfillment, for tracking, and for verifying compliance with our policies and with applicable law.

In addition, we may request your credit-card information to bill you for transactions. Your credit-card information will be provided to clearing services to complete your requested transaction. In online transactions your credit card information is never in our possession.

Your credit-card information is transmitted in the industry standard, SSL (secure socket layer) encryption. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet or by any other means can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we do endeavor to protect your personal information and privacy, we cannot guarantee or warrant the security of any information you disclose or transmit online and cannot be responsible for the theft, destruction, or inadvertent disclosure of your personal information.

We may use your contact information to send you periodic communications, solicit your feedback, provide you with special offers, or for other purposes, by mail or by email. If you choose to opt out of receiving any email communications from us, simply reply as indicated in any email we send to you.

In general, we have various formats intended for publication in print, by email, and/or on one of our websites. The intent of each format is clearly labeled, and contact information, including email addresses entered in these areas, may be published if we indicate that is their purpose. They will not be published otherwise.

COOKIES

Cookies are pieces of information that a website transfers to an individual's hard drive for record-keeping purposes. We never save passwords or credit-card information in cookies.

There are links to other sites from our pages that take you outside our service. These other sites may send their own cookies to users, collect data, or solicit personal information. The privacy policies of these other sites may differ significantly from ours. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these other sites and cannot guarantee the security of any of your personal information collected there.

GENERAL WEB INFORMATION

Each time a visitor comes to a Continuity Publishing website, our servers, like most on the Web, collect some basic technical information, including, for example, the visitor's domain name (e.g., whether the user is logged on from aol.com or whitehouse.gov), referral data (e.g., we record the address of the last URL a user visited prior to clicking through to a Continuity Publishing website), and browser and platform type (e.g., a Netscape browser on a Macintosh platform). We do not connect this information to specific individuals or businesses.

We may also count, track, and aggregate visitor activity on our websites and in response to our email newsletter(s) into our analysis of general traffic flows (e.g. tracking where traffic comes from, how traffic flows within our sites, etc.). We may merge information about respondents, visitors, and visits into group data, which may then be shared on an aggregated basis with our advertisers; but we will not disclose your individual identity or personally identifiable data without your permission. When we do present aggregated information to outside companies, no one will be able to identify you or contact you.

"EMAIL A FRIEND"

Continuity Publishing may offer an "email a friend" feature in relation to some aspects of our sites, allowing site visitors to send email to friends to inform them about something they might find interesting. For this feature to function, we ask for email addresses for the recipient (so we know to whom to mail the message) and from the sender (so we can tell the recipient who sent the email). We do not store or save these addresses and you will not receive email or other communications from us as a result of having used this feature.

"Email a friend" is a mail service that individual visitors to Continuity Publishing websites can make use of to send individual emails. While this tool cannot be used to send mass "spam" mailings, Continuity Publishing has no control over how our visitors use it, and any email sent through it originates with, and is the responsibility of, the sender, not Continuity Publishing.

PUBLIC VENUES

No Continuity Publishing website presently offers any chat rooms or message boards, but please keep in mind that whenever you give out personal information on a "public" venue online, for example, via message boards or chat, that information can be collected and used by people you don't know. If we do institute such services, and if you choose to voluntarily disclose information on a bulletin board, message board, or chat room on our website, this Privacy Policy will not cover such disclosure of information.

MINORS

We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you are under 18, please do not provide any personal information to us. We do not collect or maintain information at our websites from those we actually know are under 18, and no part of our website is structured to attract anyone under 18.

OTHER DISCLOSURE

Continuity Publishing will not use or disclose your personal information without your consent except (i) as described in this Privacy Policy, (ii) when we believe in good faith that the law requires it, or (iii) in special cases when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) Continuity's rights or property, other users, or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities.
